Tecate, Mexico Mission Trip 2007

Our team arrived at 5:00 am Sunday morning in the church parking lot to begin loading the vans with our equipment, luggage, and sleeping bags. A long road trip was ahead of us. We knew that it would take us over 12 hours to drive down to Tecate, Mexico from Sacramento, CA. With the vans loaded, we set our on our journey to Tecate. I was very excited about this opportunity to serve. To me serving means being challenged, being humbled and being found by God for the good and benefit of others. That can not only be an exuberant character building experience.

We arrived at the Fernando Montes De Oca School late Sunday night. We settled down for the night and every morning we woke up ready to begin working and building up the school for God’s glory. Day by day we witnessed the progression and the hard work as we remodeled the school.  We were able to install new insulation and replace old damaged Sheetrock. We built a new bookshelf for the school library to organize and store all the books. New texture and pain really put the final finishing touches for the newly remodeled classrooms. We were so happy to see the completed work. The Lord truly blessed our efforts beyond our expectations.

All the school children were blessed to be able to make new friends and we quickly grew to love them. They had an opportunity to learn more about Jesus.  We were excited to see how the Lord was working in the hearts of the school children. Through our acts of kindness, we were able to build friendships and share the love of God.  We know that the Lord allowed for us to share a glimpse of hope with the school children as we ministered to them through the process of building up and restoring their school facility.

As I look back on this construction mission trip project, I see how God was taking care of all the details to allow our team to experience firsthand what it’s like to share Christ with others. When we step out in faith, His grace and mercy is sufficient to cover us all. To God be the glory for what He is doing in the lives of men and women who are seeking and searching with open hearts.  Will we hear and respond to His calling to go forward and help those who are in need.  Father help us in finishing the work to hasten the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Maranatha!
