Eden Valley Mission Trip

Written by Miriam Popovski

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10). In 2022, Fran* was hesitant to attend a mission trip during her spring break. I think we can all relate, but especially as an academy teacher breaks are a much valued down time. After much prayer she decided to attend the Build and Restore International (BRI) mission trip to Eden Valley in Colorado. As many of us have experienced, volunteering provides individuals with a sense of purpose, as they are contributing their time and skills to a cause they believe in. This can give them a greater sense of meaning and fulfillment in life. Volunteering often involves working with other like-minded individuals, which can lead to the development of new friendships and social connections. For Fran these relationships provided a sense of belonging and support.

Fast forward to 2023. BRI, in partnership with the Rise Up conference and F5 Challenge group, is having a follow-up mission trip to the same location during spring break again! Fran knew she had to attend again, but this time she would bring others with her. Four students from the academy where she worked at joined her as they too wanted to experience the joy and revival she had shared with them. Miraculously, God provided all the finances to attend and together they learned new skills and gained valuable personal growth both spiritually and physically. “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).
