Hermosillo, Mexico Mission Trip 2017

Build and Restore International (BRI) received an invitation to help construct a new church building in Hermosillo, Mexico. As we looked for ways that we could help, the Lord was already working out the details ahead of us. It is truly by His grace and mercy that we were able to go and serve the people of Hermosillo, Mexico.

When God's people pray, God hears their prayer! It wasn't long ago that a small group of believers began to pray for a new church building. They were meeting in a small house that they had been renting out to hold church services. It quickly became too small for their newly established congregation. It was their hearts desire to have their own church.  The church members came together and with God’s help purchased a plot of land. God was leading them step by step. In faith, they began to build the foundation. Soon after, the walls were going up. Yet, the remainder of the work was not done. Church members came together and began to pray for God to send someone that could help them finish the church building. It was then that Build and Restore International (BRI) received a project request from Ana who lives with her family in Texas. The Lord put a burden on her heart to reach out to us to assist in the finishing of this new church building in Hermosillo, Mexico.
We began planning, coordinating, and fundraising for this effort. We opened a GoFundMe page asking everyone to help us. On April 9th a group of BRI volunteers departed to Hermosillo, Mexico. They drove 18 hours in 2 days to their final destination. The border crossing was seamless. The team was busy each day building and in the evenings, Ostap Dzyndra, President of BRI was able to hold evangelism Training Seminars for the church members. Also in the evening, the volunteers helped with evangelism training seminars, children’s programs, and health presentations. The Lord truly blessed our efforts and we saw the Lord's hand over the building project. Many prayers were answered and many people from the community came out to help build. The church members came to hear about evangelism and stayed for the question and answer session.

Our team of volunteers were able to interact with the children and spend time with them. We wanted to have a positive impact on their lives and share with them the Love of Jesus. We also had the opportunity to visit some families in their homes. Spend time together interacting and sharing that which was most pressing for us in our hearts. As we visited various families, we saw truly how great the need was. It was our hearts desire to help as many as we could in any way that we could.

The following day our work consisted of making forms for concrete. Digging trenches for the water and sewage pipes. Hot mopping the septic tank and making it waterproof. Once we completed the concrete forms, the following day we began to sift the sand and prepare for concrete mixing. It was a fine science to mix just the right amount of rock, sand, concrete, and water. Overall it was a 2 day job to complete the concrete. Also we were able to install the new water and sewage pipes. The following day, our team of volunteers backfilled the trenches. The Lord provided the strength to move forward with the project. He blessed our efforts and provided just the right people to come along on this mission trip to get the work completed.
